The nostalgic evocation of the past was the central theme of Kuramotto’s exhibit, Iconos en extinción, (Icons in Extinction). The artist represented objects of daily life that are disappearing due to the growth and development in the Western Bolivian region.
His works depicted the trapiche, a local form of mortar used to mash fruits and grains, the horcon de cuchi, a traditional Urundel wood column used to support ceilings, old fashioned carts, hammocks and other local traditional objects that are representative of life and thought in the Bolivian western area.
