Jorge Padilla y Magenta Murillo
Manzana 1 Espacio de Arte is the venue where the works of three veteran Bolivian artists come together. Magenta Murillo transmits the excitement she feels when painting. She uses her craft to block out the external negative energies that could affect her, and turns them into bursts of color.
In Juan Mayta Ascencio’s work, his paintings and sculptures evoke essence and identity. In his own turn, Jorge Padilla, in his first show in 12 years, experiments with the female figure, bringing together a collection of paintings and works in wood.

He learned his trade in the Visual Arts Workshop and at Roberto Valcárcel’s workshop in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. He had regular individual exhibits in the halls of Casa de la Cultura Raúl Otero Reiche, since 1987 until 1997, and at Centro Cultural Franco Alemán, in 2007. He participated in collective exhibits in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and the United States. He obtained the second prize at the Municipal Art Biennial in Santa Cruz in 1987 and 1988, the Grand Prize for Drawing in 1995, and in painting and sculpture in 2007 and 2011. He won the Prize for works in graphite in the contest organized by BHN Foundation, La Paz in 1995; second place in the 19th Tenri International Art Competition, in Japan in 1999, and was given an honorable mention in the 7th. International Ceramics Competition at Mino, Japan, in 2005. He won second place in the National Painting Contest UAGRM, in 2011; First Prize in Painting for Casa Design Center Contest in 2013. His work was selected for the Toyamura International Sculpture Summit in 2005, Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial in 2018, and Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition in 2018.
Juan Mayta Ascencio

Juan Mayta Ascencio studied Fine Arts at UMSA University in La Paz. He is a visual artist. He participated in many individual and collective exhibits between 2002 and 2019 in Bolivia, Peru, US, Mexico and Spain. He won awards such as the Annual Grand Prize of the Arts Major, at UMSA 2007; he obtained an honorable mention in Painting in 2010. He won the first prize in Sculpture in 2015 and was given an honorable mention in printmaking in 2016 at the Pedro Domingo Murillo Municipal contest in La Paz, the Grand Prize for Paiting in 2017 at the Municipal Contest 14 de Septiembre in Cochabamba, second prize for sculpture in 2017 at the San Felipe de Austria Municipal Contest, in Oruro. His works are in diverse museums, galleries and private collections in Bolivia and abroad.
Magenta Murillo
La Paz
She studied Fine Arts at UMSA University in La Paz. She did postgraduate courses in Creativity and Contemporary Art. She is a painter, illustrator and sculptor. She has a workshop, Arteobjeto, that has been in effect for over 17 years. She was a university professor and participated in over one hundred collective and individual exhibits in Bolivia and abroad, including Canada, US, Spain, Rumania, Italy, Germany, Argentina and Brazil. She is currently working as influencer for Monopol.
